The mortal remains of Nirmal Kapoor, the mother of veteran actor Anil Kapoor, were taken for her final rites on Saturday, May 3. She passed away a day earlier at the age of 90, following a brief hospitalisation at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
Her mortal remains were transported in an ambulance decorated with garlands and flowers, as it made its way to the Vile Parle Crematorium on S.V. Road. Visuals showed Arjun Kapoor helping manage the crowd to ensure a clear passage, while his cousin Sonam Kapoor was seen leaving separately in a black car for the cremation site.
Earlier in the day, close family and friends gathered at Nirmal Kapoor’s residence to offer their final respects. Among those present were her sons Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor, as well as other family members including Sunita Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor.
Notable names from the film fraternity also paid tribute, including Neila Devi, wife of the late Shammi Kapoor, and veteran actor Anupam Kher.
Nirmal Kapoor, wife of late film producer Surinder Kapoor, leaves behind a rich legacy through her children—Boney, Anil, Sanjay, and Reena Kapoor Marwah—and grandchildren, including Arjun, Sonam, Rhea, Harsh Vardhan, Janhvi, Anshula, Khushi, and Mohit Marwah.
